D’Banj reflected on the event that led to American rap musician and business tycoon Kanye West remixing one of his smash songs, Oliver Twist.

On Showmax’s sixth installment of Journey of the Beats, the performer described how a mix-up at the Dubai airport resulted in a serendipitous run-in with Kanye West.

The “Why Me” singer asserted that an air hostess mistakenly identified him as Kanye West on a private trip from Dubai to the United States.

The ever-smart D’banj seized the chance when he learned that the Grammy-winning musician would be at the airport shortly, stepped up to Kanye, and was able to play him the “Oliver Twist” song.

While West seemed impressed by his flair and tenacity, according to D’Banj, hearing the notorious remark “I like Beyonce” got him hooked and opened the door to a lifetime partnership.

Another international collaboration by D’banj that was a hit was Mr Endowed featuring Snoop Dogg.

Recall that in June 2011, D’banj got signed to Kanye West‘s GOOD Music, and that was supposed to be the beginning of an era.

However, the new deal saw D’banj and his former partner in ‘music’, Don Jazzy fall out which brought an end to the label, Mo’hits records.
